The Upgraded Sedona is Great for Your Holiday Road Trip
The new and improved Kia Sedona recently made its debuted, following a strong debut at the New York Auto Show in March of this year. The model received an upgraded exterior and interior that goes a long way to show how committed Kia is to its quality, safety, and technological improvements.
The 2019 Sedona received a few minor upgrades to its already impressive interior, including a revised front bumper, flanked by redesigned headlamps and a new LED Daytime Running Light on its higher specification models. The rear also benefits from an updated design and reconfigured headlamps that provide more than adequate lighting for following vehicles. Kia revised its current model lineup, discontinuing the SX specification model and launched a feature-driven EX+ model. Stephen Crosse, a Sales Director for Kia, regarding the new model, said, “It has the stylish appearance that modern consumers appreciate, but now also benefits from a simplified range with enhanced specification across the board.”
The enhanced Sedona EX features a list of standard specific features that consumers will absolutely love. The list includes, but is not limited to, automatic headlamp control, which incorporates “Welcome Home” and “Escort” lighting, heated side mirrors, and rear USB ports. The model also gains a 7-inch touchscreen audio controller, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – popular features amongst modern day car shoppers. The EX models are standardized with a 7-seat configuration, sitting on 17-inch alloy wheels.
The higher-priced EX+ model gains front and rear parking distance control, folding and heated side mirrors with integrated side indicators, front fog lamps, leather upholstery, and a wireless smartphone charger. The Sedona EX+ is only available in an 8-seat configuration, allowing more flexibility with an extra seat. It also employs a touchscreen with embedded Satellite Navigation, USB/Aux jacks, and has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities.
The SXL model is the range-topping model that adds onto the foundation set by the EX and EX+. It adds Smart Entry and Push Button Start, Blind Spot Detection, a dual sunroof, a Smart Power Tailgate, and much more.
Kia has retained the only popular 2.2-liter ‘R” turbo diesel engine, which gained attention for its mid and low-range torque. Kia’s new 8-speed automatic transmission is featured in the Sedona; it uses 143 newly-patented technologies while congruently reducing emissions. The new transmission allows for easier shifting and more decisive acceleration. EX+ and SXL models also received an electric parking brake with an auto hold function that replaces the previous foot-brake. Regarding safety, the Sedona employs the best features and driver assistance systems available, including ABS brakes and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), six airbags and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
