2017 Kia Cadenza Scores Top Safety Rating
Families searching for a comfortable, practical vehicle that combines top-notch safety features with a luxurious interior and generous fuel efficiency need not look any further than the 2017 Kia Cadenza. The new Cadenza just received a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and has received top marks from critics and fans alike for its fresh design and cool comfort.
The 2017 Cadenza received a full makeover for the new model year, helping it score top marks on the IIHS’s toughest safety tests. The new Cadenza earned “Good” scores in all five crash categories, including the notoriously tough “small overlap test.” Previous Cadenzas were not tested by the IIHS in the small overlap evaluation category. The test replicates what happens when the corner of a car hits a tree or pole at 40 mph and the 2017 Cadenza model passed with flying colors.
“The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is one of the most respected organizations in the industry when it comes to evaluating vehicle safety, and this designation is a great achievement that speaks to Kia’s commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement,” Orth Hedrick, vice president of product planning for Kia Motors America, said in a recent statement. “We are proud that the Cadenza received across-the-board good crashworthiness ratings, which is another testament to the efforts of our engineers and the integrity of our vehicles.”
Overall, the 2017 Cadenza was awarded the IIHS’s highest designation possible.
The vehicle received a front crash prevention technology rating of “Superior” for its outstanding forward collision warning feature. The Cadenza is also capable of autonomous emergency braking, which helps the car avoid collisions while traveling at speeds up to 25 mph. The feature comes standard on Technology and Limited trims.
To receive those top honors, the Cadenza had to pass a slew of rigorous tests. To snag the Top Safety Pick+ honor, the Cadenza was required to score “good” ratings in five crashworthiness tests (small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side impact, roof strength and head restraints) plus a “superior” rating for front crash prevention and an “acceptable” or “good” headlight rating. The Cadenza’s sleek LED headlights were impressive enough to secure the high rating the vehicle needed to pick up the IIHS’s elusive top score.
The 2017 Kia Cadenza features a suite of safety features that will ensure you and your family are in good hands whenever you’re inside. Available safety features include the Smart Blind Spot Detection system, Advanced Smart Cruise Control, a Forward Collision Warning System, Autonomous Emergency Braking and more. The vehicle is also constructed from 50% Advanced High Strength Steel.
